Velvet Skin Spa Brazilian Waxing

Pre Waxing Tips & Advice

Avoid wearing lotions or perfume on the day of service. Oils can keep the wax from adhering to the hair.
Shower if possible prior to appointment. This will allow a clean, dry and oil free surface for hair removal.
You may take non-aspirin, non prescription type pain reliever at least one hour prior to appointment.
Wear loose clothing to your appointment. No underwear would be a good choice. Remember the skin will be sensitive and needs to breathe.
Avoid wax treatments 2 – 3 days prior to menstrual cycle or during your cycle. Not that waxing cannot be performed; however you will be more sensitive during wax treatment.

Please bring 2 tampons with you. One must be worn during any Brazilian waxing service.

Try to relax. It will make your service time quicker and result in minimal discomfort.

Post Waxing Tips & Advice

Everyone is different and most clients do not experience reactions beyond redness and minor irritation. If hair is thin or weak it may break at the root during waxing causing some hairs to grow out faster. We suggest that you follow our waxing tips to minimize irritation and possible break outs.

Our Waxing Tips

  1. Avoid the sun immediately after waxing and wear sun screen; recently waxed areas are prone to hyper-pigmentation (permanent darkening of the skin) if exposed to the sun or solarium. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools and other heated sources for at least 48 hours.

  2. Avoid heavy exercise for at least 24 hours after waxing.

  3. Do not use exfoliating products (AHAs, scrubs, etc) or loofas for at least 48 hours after waxing as they might further irritate your skin.

  4. Avoid tight clothing after waxing, especially in the waxed areas. Tight clothing may result in irritation and ingrown hairs.

  5. Regular twice to three times per week exfoliation is helpful to remove dead skin so your hairs can get out above the surface of the pores and not become ingrown.

  6. No hot baths, hot showers or sexual activity for 48 hours after a Brazilian. While your pores are open, they are vulnerable to irritation by the extreme temperatures and infection by bacteria.

  7. Moisturize with a non-fragrance lotion after every shower, this keeps the skin barrier in a hydrated position, hair will not stick to the skin and will also assist in preventing hair from breaking off. If using an ingrown solution, follow the the recommended directions from manufacturer or as instructed by the Velvet Skin Spa Esthetician.

  8. Routine waxing helps the skin get accustomed to the procedure and may minimize irritation.
